Political Advocacy

The Kansas Manufactured Housing Association (KMHA) has been working with State and Local Governments for more than 45 years.  Just ask our members, they have found that there is help with the issues you’re dealing with when you belong to KMHA.

Kansas legislators have noticed, Senate Tax Chairman Les Donovan said, “The Manufactured Housing Industry is well represented in Kansas, thanks to Kansas Manufactured Housing Association.”  This is what member Dana "Gus" Horner of Ridgeview Development Co. had to say, “KMHA helped me realize how easy it is to make contact with my legislators and for them to listen and take into account what I have to say.  I also enjoy the membership events the association puts on as it gives me the opportunity to meet colleagues that I do business with and put a face with a name and voice. ”

KMHA has a full time lobbyist ensuring that your voice is heard.  A few of KMHA’s legislative accomplishments are:

  • Sales tax exemptions for manufactured and modular housing
  • Elimination of Inventory Tax
  • 16’ 6” wide movement and weekend movement
  • Anti-Discriminatory Zoning law
  • Compliance with the federal Manufactured Housing Improvement Act

Networking Opportunities

All work and no play?  Not exactly.  Each year KMHA holds fun events for members.  Enjoy dinner in a salt mine?  We did!  In the past, KMHA members enjoyed tours of the Kansas Underground Salt Museum in conjunction with our annual membership meeting.  Our events provide excellent opportunities to build business relationships and network with fellow industry peers.
